Hi, I'm Patrick

My performances integrate virtuosic playing with history and personal narrative. By approaching classical music through a fresh lens, I create spaces in which diverse audience members can relate to music on a more personal level.

I love performing music from baroque to contemporary and have commissioned several works from living composers. My recent duo program, Dear Camilla, explores loss and legacy and follows my relationship with my former teacher, Camilla Wicks, whose violin I now play. In my solo program, I play selections from my recent album Violin Alone and discuss the connections between the pieces, composers, and my own experiences learning the violin.

My Violin

I primarily play a violin made by Arthur Edward Smith, built in Sydney, Australia, in 1959. Its previous owner was my former teacher, Camilla Wicks, who is pictured here, holding the instrument.

I also perform on a number of bows including one made my Mars Auguste Husson made in 1925 in Paris, and a 1903 W.E. Hill & Sons bow made in London.
